Bethel, as part of ELCA World Hunger, is committed to pursuing a world of justice. ELCA World Hunger is uniquely positioned to reach communities in need by working through Lutheran churches around the world, our congregations in the United States, and other partners.
We start by listening to our neighbors in over 65 countries and learning how we can partner with them as they work to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.
From health clinics to micro loans, water wells to animal husbandry, community meals to advocacy, our gifts to ELCA World Hunger make it possible for the ELCA to respond, supporting sustainable solutions that get at the root causes of hunger and poverty.
A good steward of our resources, World Hunger holds administrative and fundraising costs to less than 10 per cent -- among the lowest of any organization working in the field of hunger.
Responding to God's love, we at Bethel designate the first Sunday of every month as World Hunger Sunday, an opportunity to give to this special ministry. In 2015, Bethel was blessed to give $21,800 to World Hunger.
